ABOUT IKLECTIK

IKLECTIK is more than a grassroots music venue.

We are dedicated to shaping a radical cross-disciplinary approach to experimental music, interdisciplinary performance and boundary-pushing practices in sonic arts.

Founded in London in 2014, IKLECTIK has built an international reputation for presenting work that sits between music, performance, technology and research. We support artists working at the edges of form — where sound becomes spatial, performance fills the space, and audiences are invited into new ways of listening.

Over the past decade, IKLECTIK has been more than a venue. It has been a meeting point — bringing together artists, researchers and audiences to explore sound as a medium for creativity, critical thinking and collective experience.

We support work that doesn’t fit neatly into categories. Work that takes risks.

OUR PURPOSE

At its core, IKLECTIK exists to support artistic risk.

We create space for ideas that are still forming. For practices that resist easy definition. For artists building new sonic languages.

And we work to ensure that these experiences remain open, inclusive and accessible to all.

A DECADE OF EXPERIMENTATION

For ten years, IKLECTIK operated from its home in Waterloo, supporting a wide community of artists and hosting an ambitious programme of performances, residencies, talks and collaborations. We produced 1,800+ events, supported 3,000+ artists and welcomed 60,000+ of you through our doors.

In 2024, we were forced to leave the venue due to redevelopment of the building. The closure marked a significant rupture.

But rather than pause, IKLECTIK adapted.

Through a community-supported crowdfunding campaign, we continued our work as a nomadic programme, presenting events across the UK and Internationally — continuing to interrogate and progress research on experimental sound & music. All whilst looking for a new home…

A NEW CHAPTER: PECKHAM LEVELS

In late 2025, IKLECTIK began a new phase with a home at Peckham Levels.

Since arriving, we have:

Presented 40+ events Supported 70+ artists Welcomed 4,000+ audience members

Our programme spans gigs, audiovisual performances, residencies, research presentations, artist talks and interdisciplinary collaborations — continuing our commitment to experimental and cross-disciplinary practices.

With this arrival we’ve expanded our programme to support artists working in embodied performance — exploring how the body interacts with sound and music.

In this new home we are expanding. We are committed to supporting grassroots experimental musicians and embodied performers to create cutting edge work for our audiences.

SOUND AS EXPERIENCE

IKLECTIK is one of the few grassroots organisations in the UK developing work with multi-channel and three-dimensional audio systems, enabling artists to:

Compose in space, not just stereo Move sound through and around audiences Explore listening as a physical and emotional experience

Sound, for us, is not background. It is architecture. It is the environment. It is something you step inside.

Our technology is custom made. We know this equipment is rare — so we give artists the chance to learn and play with our immersive sound system through residencies and training programmes. Giving artists the chance to develop practices they otherwise wouldn’t be able to access.
